Good reasons for air conditioning

Good reasons for air conditioning

An air conditioner regulates temperature and humidity. It also filters harmful bacteria, viruses and fungi from the air, if it has a modern filter system. Thus, an air conditioner increases the quality of air. The room climate is pleasant for most people at a temperature of 20 to 22 degrees and relative humidity of 30 to 65 percent. Air conditioners are available as mobile monoblock, stationary monoblock or split unit. You should leave the installation to an air conditioning technician.

Air conditioner: monoblock or split unit?

The decision depends on the application. A mobile monoblock is suitable if you want to cool different rooms alternately, a stationary monoblock if the noise level does not matter, and a split unit if you want it to be quiet. That is why most choose a split unit for the home office, bedrooms or living room. Besides, a split unit, which consists of a compressor (outside) and a heat exchanger (inside), works much more energy efficient than a monoblock.

Air conditioning: Install it yourself or have it installed?

You can buy a monoblock at a hardware store or on the Internet and install it yourself. For a split unit, however, you should definitely hire an air conditioning technician. On the one hand, he will advise you competently on the choice of equipment and recommend a reasonable cooling capacity and the best location for the compressor and for the heat exchanger. On the other hand, he will install your air conditioning system professionally. Especially if you want to have a multi-split system with several indoor units installed.

How much does an air conditioner cost?

A single-split air conditioner with a compressor and heat exchanger for a room with average cooling capacity costs 4,000 Swiss francs or more. Included are the core drilling into the limestone or brick wall, five meters of ductwork and commissioning. A multi-split system with a compressor, multiple heat exchangers and higher cooling capacity is more expensive. It is impossible to estimate because the cost depends on structural measures and accessories such as a condensate pump.
